Other support will follow. A vast infrastructure rehabilitation program in the 8th administrative region of the country which is being planned will be launched soon
The Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, Dr. Colonel Abdoulaye Maïga, offered, yesterday, on behalf of the President of the Transition, equipment to the governorate of the Kidal Region. The ceremony organized for this purpose took place at the department in charge of Territorial Administration. It was in the presence of the governor of the Kidal Region, Major General Elhadji Gamou, and many other personalities from the country.
This donation from the Head of State consists of four Toyota Hilux vehicles, five computers, two color printers and a photocopier. This gesture materializes the firm desire of President Assimi Goïta to make effective the return of administration and basic social services in the reconquered areas.
The Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization announced, on instructions from the Head of State, the imminent launch of a vast infrastructure rehabilitation program in the 8th administrative region of the country. According to Dr. Colonel Abdoulaye Maïga, all these actions are the result of a series of ministerial missions which were carried out in this locality and which allowed the different ministerial departments to make positive observations of these needs.
Minister Maïga then thanked the President of the Transition for the interest he shows in state representatives. “It is true that this is the return of the State, but it is also important to say that this donation will further invigorate the morale of state representatives and improve their living conditions and work,” he testified.
The Minister of State also said he was convinced that this gesture by the Head of State will be multiplied towards other regions, especially those affected by the multidimensional security crisis that our country has experienced. Dr. Colonel Abdoulaye Maïga invited the governor of Kidal to take care of this equipment. What could be more normal when we know that “Mali is currently going through a bleak situation”.
For his part, the governor of the Kidal Region welcomed this support, ensuring that it will be used in the interest of the locality and the administration in general. “We are very happy that the President of the Transition is thinking of this region quite far from the capital and victim of a lot of suffering and problems,” added Major General Elhadji Gamou. He thinks that with this support, his region will be more functional.
The delivery of this donation follows a letter that the governor of the Kidal Region sent to certain regional directors asking them to return to their posts in the locality no later than April 17. This injunction comes following an observation he made on their “long-term and unjustified absences” from their duties. And this, “in violation of the deadlines indicated by the mission orders or absence authorizations”.
Major General Elhadji Gamou took the opportunity to once again ask all state agents to return to their posts in the region. “Everyone must return to serve the state. As long as the administration and the governor are there, no one has the right to be absent,” he declared bluntly. And to renew its call to executives, teachers and heads of services to return to the locality so that together they can meet the challenges.
