This Saturday, April 27, 2024, the ceremony to present the results of the hundred (100) days of activities of the Special Delegation of the Bamako District was held at the Town Hall of the District of Bamako. It was chaired by Mr. Balla TRAORE, President of the Special Delegation of the District of Bamako in the presence of Colonel Abdramane OUATTARA, Chief of Staff of the Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, Government Spokesperson, Mr. Abdrhamane CISSE, Director General of Territorial Communities, members of the Special Delegation, Mayors of Municipalities, Directors of Bamako District services and a significant number of civil society actors.
Two (2) points were included on the agenda for this press briefing, in particular:
the presentation of a documentary film produced by Ms. Rokia Althiné TRAORE on the sanitation activities in the city of Bamako carried out by the Special Delegation. It traces the initiatives taken by the Special Delegation in the field of sanitation in the city of Bamako so that it is clean and attractive. These include various garbage collection operations and cleaning of certain public spaces, the rehabilitation of green spaces to contribute to the beautification of the city of Bamako, the repair of traffic lights, etc. This sequence was closed with a motion of congratulations and thanks to all public and private actors involved in the field of sanitation and particularly the Directorate of Urban Roads and Sanitation Services (DSUVA) of the District Town Hall of Bamako for their tireless efforts and the changes made in such a short time under the leadership of Colonel Sekouba TRAORE.
the results of the activities carried out: the President of the Special Delegation Mr. Balla TRAORE first of all wanted to warmly thank the highest authorities who gave them the opportunity to serve the country through the Special Delegation of the District of Bamako.
President Balla TRAORE recalled that the missions of the Special Delegation are part of the implementation of the road map that the Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, gave them and in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 2023-005 of March 13, 2023 establishing the special status of the District of Bamako.
To do this, he listed the actions to reorganize the financial governance of the Bamako District initiated since he took office with the aim of reducing operating costs, in particular:
the 50% reduction in fuel allocations with a monthly saving of 27,002,380 CFA francs;
the 70% reduction in session organization costs from 4,350,000 to 640,000 FCFA per session.
These measures made it possible to close the first quarter of 2024 with a surplus balance of 229,118,481 CFA francs.
The combination of joint efforts made it possible to positively improve the financial situation of the District of Bamako, the balance of which at the end of December 2023 was 485,512,975 CFA francs compared to 1,508,649,134 CFA francs as of March 31, 2024.
For the prospects, he mentioned in particular:
the upcoming recruitment of laborers for the benefit of the DSUVA whose current workforce is 60 agents;
the development of the transit depots of Lafiabougou, Flanc de la colline de Koulouba, Darsalam etc;
strengthening the workforce by recruiting 50 contract agents for the benefit of DUBOPE;
Improving public lighting, particularly at major intersections and streets in the capital;
the construction of two or three twin towers on the banks of the Niger River;
the creation of a modern multi-level market in Sogoniko;
Improving mobility in the capital by creating a network of Buses and a Tramway for the entire deserted area of Bamako.
The presentation of the hundred-day report is part of the accountability and transparency that this team would like to instill in the conduct of the affairs of the District Town Hall.
